The River of Doubt .
Theodore Roosevelt was born on October 27th, 1858. He was born and raised in New York. He became the 26th president on September 14, 1901. He did two terms, and then re-entered the election in 1912, but lost. Throughout Roosevelt life he battled depression and loss by seeking out dangerous physical challenges and pushing himself to the limit of his endurance. In December of 1913 Theodore Roosevelt and 55 other men went on a journey to the undiscovered River of Doubt. Three months into the journey Theodore became very ill with malaria, and had a severe infection from scraping his leg on a boulder. The men decided to abandon their canoes and go into the jungle towards the river. Although Candido Rondon, a Brazilian co-commander discovered the River of Doubt, it was never explored until Roosevelt, his sons and his men explored it. During this journey they went through many hard troubles. They faced vicious piranhas, snakes, hard weather and many more horrid things through their dangerous adventure. After this long journey was finally over The River of doubt later became known as the Rio-Roosevelt due to bravery of the ex-president and the branch of the river was named the Rio Kermit in his son Kermit's honor. Theodore Rooselvelt dies on January 6th , 1919.
